1. I have experienced that it is important to be on time in order to ensure that I get the most out of the time at my mentorship. I have also learned that it is important to keep the patient interaction confidential because of the HIPPA laws and respecting the patient's privacy rights. I was in a room with a patient and she was discussing her issues that she was having and it was very interesting and I really wanted to tell others about my new experience but I know that is tremendously important to keep the patient's information private. I have also learned that it is important to remember that I am only shadowing but at the same time I have to keep in mind that I should behave like I am employed at my workplace. It is key to listen and treat everybody with respect, no matter what their position is. I have also experienced that communication is crucial because everybody has to be aware of every thing that is going on.
2. The nurse wears scrubs which is the normal attire for the nurse since she is dealing with the patients. The physician wears office attire with a lab coat because she wants to look professional for her patients and the atmosphere is more laid-back. By the physician dressing more professionally, it shows the patients that she is a hardworking physician because her lab coat shows her status. The clothing that the workers wear help to show the status of each worker. 3. The information that I have learned so far during my mentorship has helped me to understand more about the human body and the reason why certain events occur. I am also able to apply the skills that I have learned at my mentorship to other job opportunities that arise. I have also gained another perspective on health care because i have seen the struggles among the different type of patients that have came into the office. It makes me want to continue to help others and make their lives as easy as possible, starting with their health.
